In 2009, I released my first commercial game (as a developer), Marble Tactics, for the Apple iPhone under the name Binary Galactic. Shortly after releasing the game I started a software engineering job and have been incredibly busy since.
Earlier this year I started working on a hobby retro game project with an old friend. We're a couple of veteran C/C++ programmers, but since we're short on time, we've been using GameMaker. It has allowed us to quickly iterate through various gameplay ideas.
I've also been pursuing some other interests, including learning about FreeBSD. As a long-time Linux user, FreeBSD is a refreshing new (for me) take on Unix. Everything seems to be fairly well documented and logical, and it is fun re-learning the basics and adjusting to a shell other than Bash, etc.
So far 2014 has been a quiet year for game development, but I'm hopeful that 2015 will allow me to finish another game.
